Live Music Venues
After That
Soi 7.
Although ostensibly an oversized beer bar, the area in front of the band stage is large enough to allow those who wish to sashay to do so in comfort. Drinks prices are reasonable, happy hour prices ridiculously low.
Bamboo Bar
South Pattaya Road.
One of the few places available in town for people to dance to live music that's not too loud and where the drink's prices are reasonable. A popular venue for some years.
Blues Factory
Soi Lucky Star, off Walking Street.
This place has garnered a well-deserved reputation for good quality live music in a convivial setting. The reputation is quite rightly growing by the day since this is genuine high quality music venue which deserves all the support it can get. Jam nights, blues reviews and rock 'n' roll shows. Elvis Pub
Second Road, around the
corner from Soi 2.
As the name suggests, this small place features music by the late Elvis Presley. Ritchie Newton, a German-born Elvis impersonator, one of only 3,000 or so to come out of the land of lederhosen, performs two shows most nights and is generally well received.
FLB
Walking Street.
Formerly known as Freelancer Bar, the FLB house band, the Ugly Brothers (yes, they are), usually have the assembled punters tapping their toes. Good, friendly atmosphere with drinks prices that are not over the top. Nice place to sit and relax, away from the madding crowd. Hopf Brew House
Beach Road, corner of
Soi Yamato (13/1).
An upmarket dining and drinking establishment designed along the lines of a German brewery. Popular with the well-heeled expat crowd.
Star Music
Walking Street.
A live band that only a few people ever seem to listen to. Perfect place to sit and watch the comings and goings in Walking Street while listening to music.
Moon River Pub
North Pattaya Road
(Thai Garden Resort).
Good quality international bands and artists perform most nights of the week (usually not on Mondays). Restaurant facilities and snooker tables as well.
Sharky's
Walking Street.
Spread over two floors and sitting right on the water at the top end of Walking Street, this place has a good rock and roll band, food and reasonably-priced booze. Plenty of upstairs seating, some of it overlooking Walking Street.
Malibu
Soi Post Office, corner of
Second Road.
Well known for its transvestite shows, a poor imitation of places like Alcazar and Tiffany's, but a good introduction for those who want to avoid the north Asian hordes who make up the audiences in the latter mentioned establishments. Drinks prices are reasonable and the atmosphere generally laid back.
Discos
Marine
Walking Street.
Still 'the' place to go if you want to find good looking girls (and guys, I suppose) and get into some really hard and loud techno sounds.
Tony's Entertainment Complex and Cool Spot
Walking Street.
Overpriced drinks and pushy service personnel don't stop people crowding into this place night after night. Of course, it may have a lot to do with the fact that almost every good-looking girl in town makes an appearance here at some time during the night.
X-zyte
Third Road.
Although ostensibly a Thai-oriented disco, this well laid-out and nicely appointed club attracts its fair share of foreign revellers. The big stage and big shows are the focus of everyone's attention.
