There's live music and dancing Issan-style which really add to the authenticity of the experience and the service is friendly and efficient. This is a great place to take a girlfriend, or simply relax with friends. Treat yourself to an Irish coffee (Bt200) while you're there - extremely potent and the waiter turns making them into an art form!

Casa Pascal
Moo 10, Second Road
(opposite Shenanigans/Marriot Royal Gardens resort),
Pattaya.
Tel: 038-723 6600
A luxury restaurant with slick staff and three interesting set menus as well as a la carte. I had the top level set menu at just over a Bt1,000 for five courses and a sorbet. The cooking is slick but, of the courses I had, one was sub standard and one I thought did not work. Maybe I would have been better off trying the menu which has Central Europe overtones as one would expect from a Swiss owner. Despite my witterings this is one of Pattaya's better restaurants.

Bruno's
Soi Zero (near Pattaya Bowl)
Tel: 038-361 073
Open: 6.30pm-1am.
Credit cards accepted.
Well run and organized serving food with a definite central European slant, as you would expect from a Swiss restaurateur. Food and cooking is to the highest standard, and there is a wine list that is impressive, particularly so in Thailand. My one complaint was that the food arrived a little too swiftly. No time for an inter-course ciggy, or anything else for that matter. Regarded, quite rightly, as the benchmark gourmet restaurant.

Paradise Cafe and Grill
Second Road (opposite Royal Garden Plaza).
Tel: 038-723 177
Open: 8:30am-midnight.
Credit cards accepted.
Swiss-trained chef and mine host Hans Banziger has found a lucrative niche in the Pattaya eatery market. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, nicely lit and the menu unlike many similar establishments, offers a wide selection of dishes at fair prices.
