Bars in Phuket

Patong Beach

There are bars by their hundreds in Patong. Most are described as bar beer, which means they are not go-gos, but sell far more than just alcohol. Here is a short list of the ones we know well enough to recommend.

Ex-Pat Hotel
Soi Sunset.
Hash HQ as well as a regulars' hang out.

Blarney Stone
Soi Bangla.
This is one of the few bars on Soi Bangla that does not have an excess of waiting staff. The owner is a friendly Irish American called John and the place is a favourite among regular visitors and residents alike.

Paradise Bar
Paradise Bungalows,
(near the south end of the Beach Road).
These bungalows are supposed to have been the first in Patong, so this is where everything started, including the ubiquitous "Another shitty day in Paradise" slogan. Today Paradise is a long bar with a good view over the Beach Road and onto the bay. Good for people/yacht watching, or just chilling out.

Rockhard
Junction Soi Bangla and Rat U Tit Road.
This may be a go-go bar but it's also very much an expat hang out. Good food is served both inside and on the terrace.

Karon Beach

The Little Mermaid
36/10 Patak Road, Karon Beach (100 m from the circle heading towards Phuket Town).

Run and owned for a long time by Thomas, who hails from Denmark, this friendly bar/restaurant is open all day. Good place to relax in with a paper during the daytime, or to watch the centre of Karon from as you wile away the night.
